24 Apr Villiers Park, Shaping Your Future initiative
The Emma Campbell Trust is helping young people into careers through their support for Villiers Park, Shaping Your Future initiative.
On Thursday 20th April Villiers Park organised a networking event hosted by the Lloyds Banking Group at their City offices in support of the Shaping Your Future programme. The event was attended by over 50 people and provided a valuable opportunity for students and career mentors to come together and discuss their career ambitions.
Sally Le Clerc, Chair of Trustees, of The Emma Campbell Trust, said: “It was really inspiring to meet some of the high profile career mentors. A number of the mentors were supported as young graduates by Villiers Park stretching back 37 years, and are now mentors for the next generation of young people. I had the chance to speak to many of the students who were confident, articulate and had a great sense of fun. It’s fantastic to see the difference being made and the role that The Emma Campbell Trust has played in supporting the Shaping Your Future programme.”
Georgina, who got in touch with a career mentor on the Shaping Your Future programme, said: “Shaping Your Future enlightens students to see how they can achieve their dreams through the advice and support of their mentors”.
The Emma Campbell Trust awarded Villiers Park a grant of £4,900 in December 2016 for their Shaping Your Future programme. The funding has enabled the charity to launch a new resources section on it’s website, making it easier for students to get closer to their ideal career. The site helps them explore their passion and skills, hosts useful resources to help with CVs and interview techniques, and puts them in touch with a career mentor. Students can also access short films made by career heroes who dispel myths and provide insight into different jobs and industries.
